NOTE: If you are having problems displaying dynamic cartography, the most likely cause is that your browser currently does not support SVG content. You will need to download and install the Adobe SVG Viewer for your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. SVG – Scalable Vector Graphics Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a web based language based on open standards designed specifically for graphics. It is ideal for presenting statistical information in a highly dynamic, visual and yet intuitive manner. It is also very well suited to meeting the web accessibility guidelines. Downloading the free SVG ViewerIf your Internet Explorer browser does not support SVG content already, you will need to install the Adobe SVG Viewer. This is a small (2Mb) program that enhances Internet Explorer allowing it to support SVG content. You can download the Viewer for free from Adobe. Your PC may be set-up by your IT Department in a way that does not let you download or install any software - this is for security purposes. If this is the case you will need to contact your IT support. Alternatively, our experience is that many people try evaluating these atlases from their home PC which will not have these security limitations. The SVG Viewer only needs installing once. It is not just for supporting this software. It is completely generic for supporting any SVG content on the web in the same way as the Adobe PDF Reader enables you to read any document in PDF format. The SVG Viewer will NOT harm your computer. It is the same technology that is used by national statistics offices around the world and numerous public and private sector organisations on their internet sites.
