Jean-Patrick GIRBIG is the founder and initial chairman of the EPSG ("European Petroleum Survey Group") and the APSG ("Americas Petroleum Survey Group"). He has a diploma of topographic engineer at INSA (ex ENSAIS) and knows well the oil/gas world. After having worked for an Oil company, he managed for long the Cartography  Department of Petroconsultants implementing heavy changes.

  • Visionary: In 1974 and 1976, he organised two study trips focusiing on water problems.
  • Precursor: In the 1980's, he worked for Gulf countries on the on-board digital cartography now known as "Geographical Information Systems" .
  • Innovator: From the early beginning of 1980, he experimented and inproved the Data Administrator task, that will become a key-point in a GIS. He operated large databases (including mining and licenses) and wide petroleum systems.
  • International: His numerous missions around the world gave him the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment : Geophysics, Petroleum prospection, civil works, environmental risk assesment , Topography, ...

Pascal BENOIST has a French diploma of Land-surveyor ("Géomètre Expert-Foncier DPLG") supplemented by a high level diploma in digital cartography and G.I.S [ParisI/IGN]. He carried out many G.I.S missions in the field of environmental sciences [Laboratory of geophysics at CEA] like in the field of telecommunications where he was responsible for several years of the topographic module for mobile and fixed networks engineering software at CTS International.

  • Precursor: From the early beginning of 1980, as a surveyor, he worked with a new generation of CAD software (Geographix) with GIS characteristics (topology).
  • Passionate: Mostly interested in multi-cultural contacts, courses he practice, as well as transfer of powers, he is also rigorous and well-informed of new technology and their correct and efficient use.
  • International: His numerous missions around the world made him work in a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary environment : Environment, Geology, Telecom, Cadastre, Geodesy, Cartography, Topography, ...

Dr Mounir AZOUZI studied as a topographic engineer at EPFL Switzerland (Ingénieur du génie rural et géomètre) supplemented by a Master thesis in geomatics (EPFL) plus a certification IMPA in project management. He assured a lot of GIS missions, mainly in the field of cadastration and teached geomatics at University.

  • International: His numerous missions around the world as well as his knowledge of different languages (Arabic,  French, English,German) made him work in a multi-cultural and multi-task environnement: Service de la Géomatique et du registre Foncier at Neuchâtel-Switzerland, teacher at Sousse university in Tunisie, GIS projects for water management at Constantine-Algeria, Expert for digital cadastre at Tbilissi-Georgie and in Bosnia, ...
